A little trick for you today. Have you ever wanted to take a quick glance to your network information of your Mac without having to go to System Preferences or opening the Terminal? Good news: meet the alt key.

If you want more detailed information about the network you are connected to, however, there is a quick way to do so without having to open the Terminal or going to System Preferences:

alt-click on the Wi-Fi icon

By doing so, you will see something similar to the following:

alt_click_wifi

Pretty cool heh? It’s quite useful to be able to see your IP, your gateway (no subnet information though) and your transfer rate without leaving whatever app you are currently in.

So, did you know this trick already? :)
